For all contests, the decision of the 1^st Elmira Group Committee is final.

CREST DESIGN CONTEST

Only four entries so ... 1st Place: Matthew G. (Cubs); 2nd Place: Laura (Cubs); 3rd Place: Tyler (Scouts); Honourable Mention: Tyler - Congratulations!

Get your creative juices going and design a crest that all of 1^st Elmira might wear with pride! Crest may be hand drawn or designed on a computer and the design does not need to be perfect - just make it clear enough that we can figure out what it is suppose to look like. Obviously, the more effort you make at drawing a clear neat design, the better it will look to the judges!

Your crest can be any shape (square, diamond, rectangular, circle, semi-circle, oval), approximately 3x3 inches (2x4.5, 4x2.25, 3x4), should have a border, no more than 7 colours plus a background colour and a border colour. Elmira colours are green, yellow and orange (you don't have to use them).

Your design must be based on one of the following themes:

Elmira Maple Syrup Festival
- Crest should show town and country flavour of the festival
- Crest should have some scouting symbol
Elmira Link Camp Crest
- Crest should represent all sections
- Crest can be a generic camping crest or be about camp Heidelberg
Elmira Scouting Trading Crest
- This crest would be for trading crests with youth outside Elmira
- Should represent all aspects of Elmira Scouting (camping, community)
- Should represent all sections

Prizes: Scout shop gift certificates $40 (first), $30 (second), $20 (third), $10 (honourable mention).

To submit by paper, print out the paper form and hand it into your section leader (Hawkeye, Akela, Scout Master, Advisor). To submit by email, send your crest and the form to webmaster. You can submit one design per theme (maximum 3 submissions per person).

Contest closes February 13^th, 2008.

CUBS: If you want your crest to count towards your computer badge, do your first draft without clip-art.

BRING A FRIEND CONTEST

Only one entry so the Winner is ... Laura (Cubs) who takes home an Adult Fleece Poncho and friend Erika who got a Plush Husky Toy - Congratulations!

Please let a leader know that you will be bringing a friend 2 days before the day of the meeting.
Bring a friend to any regular meeting.
After the meeting, have your friend fill in the online form (removed) and both you and your friend will be entered to win a prize (if your friend does not have computer access, call him or her for the answers while you fill in the form).

One entry per friend. If the friend joins before contest close, both of you will receive 4 additional ballots for the draw.

Friends may attend two meetings before joining.

Contest closes December 6th, 2007.

Top seller of 1^st Elmira Group will win free registration for next year! All orders and money need to be in to your leaders by the week of October 29^th, 2007.

Fine Print

The 1^st Elmira Group Committee has final say with respect to interpretation of rules, eligibility of entries, selection of winners, and awarding of prizes. Prizes may be substituted due to availability or suitability at the discretion of the committee. Contests may be cancelled due to lack of suitable entries.

Unless otherwise stated, all entrants must be registered youth of the 1^st Elmira Scout Group.
