Challenging hikes, weekend camps, and an introduction to water activities like canoeing
or kayaking are just a few of the fun outdoor adventures that Cubs enjoy.
With the Cub motto of "Do Your Best" front and centre, Cubs are encouraged to try new and more challenging activities.
Learning important first aid skills, paddling a canoe for the first time, or leading a game at camp will
open the door for Cubs to try other adventures they never thought possible.
Cubs also experience an exciting variety of other activities: games and sports, model-building, music,
story-telling and play-acting. And like Beavers, Cubs enjoy their adventures with their friends.

1st Elmira Cub Pack meets Tuesdays at 7:00PM (Doors open at 6:45) at the John Mahood School.

Badges and Stars
This year we will be working on Tawny and Purple stars.
For Tawny Star we need 6 A requirements and 3 B requirements.
For Purple Star we need 6 A requirements and 5 B requirements.
Do Your Best and let the adventure begin!
Tawny Star is Done! It is up to you to finish Purple Star! So far we have:
Participate in your school's Jump Rope For Heart for Purple B3 then you will only need one more Purple B and one more Purple A requirement to be done.
We have also done the International Trade and Aboriginal Awareness badge. We have done 5 of 7 parts of the Canadian Heritage badge.
Scout Fund
Youth who participate in Scout Popcorn and Christmas Trees selling get a portion of
their profits which they can then apply to offset their Scouting costs (big week
long camp next year).
Details:
Where you at Camp Everton this Summer?
If yes, here is the list of requirements you completed:
You also did several hikes which count towards your Hiking badge.
Knots for Green Star
Here are some good knots for you to learn; the
Sheet Bend,
Clove Hitch,
Fisherman's,
Reef and
Bowline knots.
All these knots are also described in your Cub Book page 101.
Earning Badges at Home
Q: How can a Cub earn badges at home?
A: Pick a badge you want to work on and read the requirements carefully.
Some badges require you do all the requirements and some badges you only have to do some of the requirements.
As you finish each requirement, have your parents initial and date your Cub Book.
When you are done, tell your Six you are ready to do badge testing and a leader will ask you questions to see what you did.
Yes, it is that easy!
Tips on Placing Badges on Your Sash
Q: Where do badges go on my sash?
A: There is a diagram in your Cub Book showing the placement of badges. From the top:
Cub Individual and Pack Specialty Badges
Q: Can a Cub earn more than one of these badges?
A: Yes! A Cub may earn a new Individual Specialty badge once a year and a Pack may earn Pack Specialty badges once a year.
Emergency Preparedness Award
Q: Will you be the first to earn this new award?
A: Maybe! Check out Scouts Canada web page for more information.
Computer Badge
Q: Looking for ideas for 7b) design a new badge or crest?
A: How about an "Elmira Maple Syrup Festival" crest, a "1st Elmira Link Camp" crest, or a "6 Star" crest?
Badge Colours
Q: Why do some badges have a blue background when most others have a yellow background?
A: Cub badges are different colours so the badges look better. Can you imagine a fish jumping out of a yellow background. Yuck! The background colours have no other purpose.
