Packages are on their way!
In April 2008, the 1st Elmira Cub Pack had a fundraiser to send care packages to our troops serving in Afghanistan. We were visited by the President of the Elmira Legion who spoke to us about peacekeeping and played a peacekeeping game. The Six that collected the most, chose to give Bagheera (Scouter Philippe) a half-and-half shave (one side of the beard and the other side of the head), Baloo (Scouter Dave) kept his goatee but lost all of his top except for a darling pony tail, and even Akela (Scouter Sandra) lost several inches off her hair.
Bagheera rolled and rolled coins, discovering how much a shoe box full of pennies weights, and eventually went shopping with over four hundred dollars! Thanks to the support of the Elmira Dollar Store and the Guelph Wal-Mart, our funds were stretched to send 19 care packages to the troops. On the advice of a local reservist Lieutenant from the Engineers, the packages were a mixture of packages meant to treat the troops and packages meant for the troops to distribute among the Afghani children.
